RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week, 13-week assignment available
• Patient ratios typically 2:1, can flex up to 3:1 during high census
• Every other weekend requirement
• Float requirement within facility
• No call requirement
• Must have minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience (no exceptions)
• Travel experience required - will not accept first-time travelers
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Required skills: Vents, IV start, neuro intensive care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, ventilated patient care, isolation precautions/PPE, lumbar drain experience
• Preferred skills: Arterial line management
• Work with stroke patients (primary population), craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm treatments, seizures, and other neurological conditions
• Use specialized equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Utilize Pyxis, EPIC charting system, and SBAR communication
• 24-hour orientation (2 days or 2 nights)
• Navy blue and white scrubs required
• Up to 7 days RTO auto-approved (no holidays)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays

This comprehensive stroke center specializes in neurological critical care with a 13-bed unit maintaining an average daily census of 11-12 patients. The facility provides advanced neurological services including stroke treatment, neurosurgery, and critical care management. The unit offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in neurological emergencies and complex cases.
