Job Summary Langan is seeking a Project Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist to join our collaborative Environmental Compliance team in Southern California. This individual will serve a key function in managing environmental compliance and permitting projects including stormwater permitting, air permitting, storage tank registration and compliance evaluations, waste program management, multi-media environmental compliance audits, development of monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans, and report writing. In addition, this role will support and manage environmental site assessments, site investigations, due diligence projects, and remediation programs for industrial, commercial, transportation, energy, and development clients. Job Responsibilities Direct and manage complex environmental projects, including performing senior-level technical analysis and review; Develop environmental permitting and regulatory strategies for a variety of industrial, commercial, transportation, and construction projects; Manage the preparation and submission of permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and storage tanks, and EPCRA (Tier II, TRI); Prepare and submit responses to Notices of Violation and negotiate permit requirements with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients; Conduct multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews; Manage and perform environmental due diligence and site assessment projects, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), regulatory file reviews, environmental compliance evaluations, and environmental risk assessments; Plan, coordinate, and oversee environmental investigations involving soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling and evaluation; Interpret environmental analytical data and prepare technical reports, conceptual site models, investigation summaries, and remedial planning documents; Support the design, implementation, and management of remediation programs, including corrective actions, site closure strategies, remediation system evaluations, and regulatory agency coordination; Interface with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies regarding environmental compliance obligations, site investigations, remediation activities, and closure requirements; Lead and develop a team of environmental professionals, including hiring, coaching, training, and motivating team members. Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments; Lead and/or assist in the preparation of proposals, including scope and fee development; Manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality objectives, and client expectations. Manage change orders, prepare draft invoices, support project billings, and assist in payment collections; Identify and pursue new client opportunities, expand work within existing projects, and participate in business development meetings, events, and industry organizations; Maintain membership and leadership roles in relevant industry organizations; Coordinate with technical experts across multiple office locations and disciplines as needed; Interface professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, and supervisors; and Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental team to support projects across the United States. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred; 6+ years of experience in environmental consulting with a strong background in environmental compliance and working knowledge of environmental investigations and remediation; Professional certification preferred (PG, PE, QISP, CHMM, or similar); 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification; Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing environmental compliance, site investigation, remediation, and waste management programs; Experience supporting or managing environmental due diligence, Phase I and Phase II ESAs, environmental investigations, corrective action programs, or remediation projects; Familiarity with environmental sampling techniques, data evaluation, and preparation of technical reports; Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects; Willingness and ability to identify new client opportunities is strongly desired; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
