We are seeking a Lead Electrical Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and implementation of industrial electrical control systems. This role will lead electrical engineering efforts on multiple projects, mentor junior engineers and designers, and collaborate with manufacturing, project management, and customer support to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced controls engineer looking to step into a technical leadership role while remaining hands-on with electrical design and automation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of electrical control systems for industrial equipment and automated machinery.
  • Oversee electrical engineering activities from concept through manufacturing, commissioning, and customer support.
  • Prepare and review electrical bills of material (BOMs), wiring diagrams, panel layouts, control schematics, and installation drawings.
  • Review and approve electrical designs completed by engineers and electrical designers.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting personnel.
  • Develop and review control system architecture, operating sequences, and electrical documentation.
  • Support PLC and HMI programming efforts and assist with system startup and commissioning as needed.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues while providing engineering support to field service and manufacturing teams.
  • Review customer specifications and ensure designs meet project requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Evaluate electrical components and recommend improvements for reliability, performance, and cost reduction.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and new product development.
  • Work closely with project managers, manufacturing, sales, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assist with UL, NFPA, and other regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience designing industrial electrical control systems.
  • Previous experience serving as a technical lead, senior engineer, or project lead preferred.
  • Strong experience with industrial control systems and electrical design.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming, preferably Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
  • Ability to develop and review electrical schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with industrial automation and electrical controls.
  • Working knowledge of UL, NFPA, NEC, and applicable electrical standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project coordination skills.
