Mobile Diesel Mechanic in Dallas

Position Summary The mobile diesel mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and equipment at customer locations or roadside, using a fully equipped service truck to minimize downtime and keep vehicles safely operating. Key Responsibilities Travel to customer sites, yards, and roadside locations to perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on diesel trucks, trailers, and related equipment. Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, braking systems, steering and suspension, electrical systems, and cooling systems. Perform preventive maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, fluid checks, DOT and safety inspections, and documentation of all work performed. Use diagnostic tools and software to identify faults, determine repair plans, and verify proper operation after repairs. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and dispatch/management regarding findings, repair options, estimates, and job status. Maintain an organized, safe, and clean service truck; manage truck stock and parts inventory to support efficient field repairs. Complete work orders, service forms, and digital records accurately and in a timely manner. Follow all company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental guidelines while working in the field. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2-3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic/technician, preferably with on-road trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment. Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and general truck and trailer systems. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL or willingness to obtain if required. Ability to work independently in the field, make sound decisions, and manage time and routing effectively. Proficiency with basic computers or tablets for work orders and diagnostics.
