Registered Nurse CVOR

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role involves patient assessment, monitoring, medication administration, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. The nurse must be skilled in critical care practices, able to float within scope to meet facility needs, and maintain strong communication with interdisciplinary teams. At least one year of relevant experience and current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care during cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs throughout perioperative phases.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in critical situations within the CVOR.
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic medical records.
• Float within nursing scope to support other units or shifts as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license (preference for Alaska RN license).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, preferably in acute care or perioperative settings.
• Ability to use Epic electronic health record system.
• Valid driver's license and ability to comply with travel and scheduling requirements.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in cardiovascular operating room or critical care nursing.
• Familiarity with Magnet facility standards and Level II Trauma protocols.
• Additional certifications relevant to perioperative nursing or critical care.

Special Considerations:

• On-call availability is required, including weekends.
• Must accommodate floating within scope to meet facility needs.
• Block scheduling accommodations are possible.
• All return-to-office (RTO) restrictions must be included with submittal.
• Parking is provided at no cost.

Scheduling:

• Four 10-hour day shifts per week (40 hours total).
• Guaranteed 70 hours per two-week period, with possibility of being called off for one 10-hour shift every two weeks.
• Shift assignments and schedules may vary based on facility needs and floating requirements.
