Tax Preparer- Managed Operations CA Seasonal Skilled Staff 16037 - Palmdale CA, Palmdale, CA, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 10381 Salary Range: $17.63 To $24.00 Hourly Job Title: CaliforniaTax Preparer Department/Business Unit: Managed Operations Reports to: Office Supervisor Status: Seasonal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Summary Tax Preparer role involves preparing accurate tax returns for individuals and small businesses, providing exceptional customer service, and staying current with tax regulations and laws. The Tax Preparer will play a critical role in helping clients achieve financial success and compliance. Responsibilities/Duties Tax Preparation: Prepare individual and small business tax returns accurately and efficiently. Review financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures, to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by addressing client concerns and questions in a timely manner. Conduct client interviews to gather information about their tax situation. Explain tax return outcomes and provide tax planning advice. Compliance and Accuracy: Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations through ongoing education and training. Ensure all returns are prepared in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Verify the accuracy of data entered into tax software. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and accurate records of all client interactions and tax returns. Ensure all required documents are filed correctly and securely. Keep up to date with client files and follow up on missing information. Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and continuing education to maintain professional credentials. Stay informed about changes in tax laws and software updates. Work closely with other tax professionals and office staff to ensure a seamless workflow. Assist in mentoring and training junior staff members as needed. Qualifications Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Superior communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Must have PTIN or eligible to receive. Upon hire, must be able to obtain CTEC Certification through the State of California using the hiring parameters outlined below: If hired prior to December 16 th , must obtain CTEC Certification prior to January 1 st If hired after December 16 th , must obtain CTEC Certification within 2 weeks of employment Education and Experience Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation. Physical Requirements Position requires working at a desk for periods of time. Some overtime and weekend work may be required, especially during tax season.
