Assistant Project Manager

Summary Assistant Project Managers assist Project Teams in the successful completion of construction projects, from the initial hand-off from Estimating through final completion and close-out. APMs are responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards and applicable laws and regulations. Five Key Roles of the Assistant Project Manager Develop project budget based on the bid estimate Lead the internal hand-off of each new project to the General Superintendent and project Superintendent Prepare monthly cost-to-complete projections for each managed project Develop and control the material submittal log Prepare subcontracts for review by Senior PM Essential Duties & Responsibilities Review material quotes and develop Purchase Orders at or below estimate costs Interact and develop relationship with client during the preconstruction and construction phase Continually expand knowledge and use of industry best practices and innovation Solve problems, as they arise, using available knowledge and resources together with collaboration with experienced internal management Provide direction to the field Superintendent when necessary Other relevant tasks as assigned Education, Experience & Qualifications A Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, or equivalent in training and experience At least 3 years of construction experience and knowledge of civil construction practices At minimum, a basic understanding of standard civil construction equipment At minimum, a basic understanding of the order of operation of civil field activities Excellent communication and organizational skills Excellent problem‑solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals Knowledge of Procore would be very helpful, Microsoft products specifically Microsoft Project Travel Travel is required for this position. Travel may include, but is not limited to, travel from office to various job sites. Fessler & Bowman will compensate for travel when applicable. Work Environment As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be subject to various work environments. Environments include but are not limited to the following: office and field settings, high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor settings.
