QC Jr. Chemist

General Description The Jr. Quality Control Chemist is responsible for performing chemical and physical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods to ensure compliance with established specifications. This role supports manufacturing operations by identifying variations, investigating out-of-specification (OOS) results, and maintaining laboratory standards, safety, and documentation. Key Responsibilities & Duties Perform chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products at various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to established specifications. Operate laboratory instrumentation and execute validated analytical test methods; troubleshoot and resolve instrument-related issues as needed. Maintain appropriate laboratory standards, including proper storage of retained samples and upkeep of the sample retention area. Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated; verify adequate inventory of supplies to support daily lab operations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment while ensuring full compliance with safety policies and procedures. Accurately maintain all laboratory records, logbooks, and electronic documentation in an organized and compliant manner. Initiate and support Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations and provide analytical support for consumer complaint investigations as required. Communicate and interface with chemical vendors to troubleshoot discrepancies or resolve differences in analytical results. Demonstrate flexibility to work split shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs require. Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and suggest process enhancements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the cosmetic industry or a regulated manufacturing environment. Strong English communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking. Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including basic arithmetic. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook); preferred. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Flexibility to work alternative schedules as required to meet job responsibilities. Consistent and reliable attendance record.
