Job Description

The Yard Worker supports the safe and efficient processing of vehicles that arrive after accidents, ensuring they are properly checked in, cleaned, documented, and prepared for auction. This role involves working primarily outdoors in a yard or lot environment, using a handheld device to record vehicle details and take photos, and handling general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, and moving vehicles and materials throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check in vehicles arriving at the yard, treating every vehicle as if it is new regardless of its condition.
• Use a handheld device (similar to a cellphone) to accurately enter vehicle information, including color, make, model, VIN number, visible damage, and overall condition.
• Take clear, detailed photos of vehicles using the handheld device and ensure all required images are captured for auction and record-keeping purposes.
• Clean vehicles as needed to prepare them for auction, including removing debris and ensuring the vehicle presents well for inspection.
• Move vehicles through the yard process from check-in to the holding lot once they are cleaned, identified, and documented.
• Perform general labor tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, moving materials, and using power tools as required.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail when inspecting vehicles, recording data, and verifying information in the system.
• Follow all safety guidelines while working in an outdoor yard environment and around vehicles and equipment.
• Stand, walk, and remain on your feet throughout the shift while moving around the yard and lot.
• Learn and follow the established processes and procedures for vehicle check-in, documentation, cleaning, and yard organization.
• Collaborate with team members and management to ensure all vehicles are processed in a timely manner and work volume is managed effectively.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing general labor or similar hands-on work.
• Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for the entire shift.
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions and yard or lot environments.
• Basic technology skills and the ability to use cellphone-type devices and handheld equipment.
• Ability to take clear photos and follow a defined process for documenting vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail when checking in vehicles and entering information.
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to stay motivated and work independently once trained.
• Capability to perform heavy lifting, loading, and unloading tasks safely.
• Willingness to treat every vehicle with care, regardless of damage or condition.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• History in general labor, construction, production, yard work, or warehouse work is helpful.
• Experience using power tools in a safe and controlled manner.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with a steady volume of vehicles.
• Ability to quickly learn new software and follow step-by-step procedures.
• Reliability and strong work ethic with a focus on quality and consistency.

Work Environment

This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You work primarily in a junk yard or lot setting, spending most of the day outdoors and exposed to all weather conditions. The position requires constant walking, standing, and being on your feet throughout the shift while moving around the yard, checking in vehicles, and supporting operations. You use handheld devices similar to cellphones, along with power tools and other basic equipment as needed. The facility provides training on all software and job processes so you can perform your tasks confidently and safely in a physically active, outdoor environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millington, TN.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Millington,TN.
