Field Scientist - (Seasonal June - October) Trileaf is seeking a temporary ecologist/biologist to conduct field work to conduct migratory bird evaluations in Boston area. This position is based in our Boston office. This will be a temporary full time role running June - October. Salary Range: $48,000.00 To $55,000.00 Annually Essential Job Functions: Perform ground-based field investigations for migratory bird surveys and any necessary permitting with state/local agencies. Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data. Assist in preparing reports in support of projects, including protected species and natural habitat assessments, environmental impacts, and biological evaluations. Perform routine and sometimes complex tasks related to field data collection, including preparing and transcribing field notes. Ability to conduct a preliminary screening of listed and/or proposed threatened and endangered species and critical habitat. Review publicly available databases such as the National Wetlands Inventory and FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps. Phase I ESA responsibilities include conducting site visits of wireless communications facilities and commercial properties. NEPA responsibilities include conducting site visits of proposed wireless communications facilities. Basic Qualifications: Strong work ethic Valid driver's license Ability to conduct field work Ability and willingness to travel (75% travel, 25% office) Commitment to excellence Preferred Qualifications / Experience: Working knowledge of the nesting cycle and behaviors of common raptor species Experience using binoculars, spotting scopes, and cameras Experience with “digiscoping” techniques Experience with GIS, GPS, and mapping software Regulatory agency permitting GPS data collection and mapping support ArcGIS online mapping and data collection applications National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessments Education : Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, ecology, environmental science, forestry, physical or natural sciences, or related fields Trileaf Corporation is an equal opportunity employer that recognizes the value of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
