We are seeking a Financial Specialist Assistant to support the business office operations of our skilled nursing facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely reimbursement and assisting residents and families through the Medicaid application process.

Important: Medicaid Experience Required

This is not a traditional administrative assistant or general billing position.

A significant portion of this role involves:

• Assisting residents and families with the Medicaid application process
• Gathering and reviewing financial and supporting documentation
• Communicating with Medicaid representatives and agencies
• Tracking pending applications and eligibility determinations
• Following up with families, agencies, and facility leadership to prevent delays in approval and reimbursement
• Maintaining a strong understanding of Medicaid policies, regulations, and eligibility requirements

Candidates without Medicaid experience or a strong understanding of Medicaid processes may find this role challenging.

Experience in any of the following is strongly preferred:

• Medicaid eligibility
• Long-term care Medicaid
• Skilled nursing facility billing
• Healthcare reimbursement
• Medicare and Medicaid billing
• Accounts receivable within a healthcare setting

What You'll Do

• Assist with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party billing
• Manage accounts receivable and collections activities
• Support resident account management
• Assist with Medicaid application submission and follow-up
• Maintain financial and business office records
• Support census, payroll, accounts payable, and other business office functions as needed
• Work closely with facility leadership to improve operational and financial performance

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Medicaid policies and regulations required
• Healthcare billing and collections experience preferred
• Experience with long-term care reimbursement strongly preferred
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Knowledge of accounting principles and reimbursement programs
