GA Teaching (Trombone) - School of Music - Fall 2026/Spring 2027 Title: GA Teaching (Trombone) - School of Music - Fall 2026/Spring 2027 Division Name: Academic Affairs College/Unit: Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts Campus Location: Normal, IL Job Summary All graduate assistants are required to enroll in a major ensemble appropriate for their applied area every semester they hold an assistantship. The ensemble placement will be determined by audition in the primary applied area. Primary Duties Serve as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory Assist a faculty member with teaching-related tasks Grade student assignments which requires knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory Meet with and/or tutor students, hold office hours, prepare instructional materials, and assist during class and/or lab Specific Teaching Assistant Duties (may include but not limited to) Instruction of music minors/studio overload Assisting with Trombone Choir and Master Class Leading sectionals Coaching student ensembles Classroom teaching Other duties as assigned, depending on the candidate’s interests and experience and School of Music needs. Salary Rate / Pay Rate — Required Qualifications Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at Must be a degree seeking graduate student in the School of Music at Illinois State University. For teaching assistant positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
