Technical Sourcing Engineer III, Mechanical

Technical Sourcing Engineer III supports Thermo Fisher Scientific's global value assurance by developing sourcing strategies for mechanical components and assemblies. The role combines R&D collaboration, cost reduction initiatives, supplier quality management, and design expertise with up to 20% international travel.
Responsibilities
- Align global sourcing strategy with R&D, product development, quality, and procurement teams
- Execute cost reduction and manufacturing scale-up initiatives for mechanical components
- Address supplier quality issues to maintain production standards
- Build should-cost models and apply DFA/DFM/DFx design methodologies
- Travel globally up to 20% to coordinate supplier activities and projects
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Physics; Master's preferred
- 5+ years (BS) or 3+ years (MS) in product design, development, and manufacturing
- Expertise in mechanical assembly, cast, machined, and sheet-metal part design
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Pro/e, or equivalent) and value engineering methodologies
- Knowledge of regulatory standards: FDA, NSF, CSA, UL, ISO 13485
- Strong project management and vendor leadership experience
- Medical devices industry experience helpful
