GovCIO is currently hiring a Network Engineer in local support of the AFSCI network. This position will be located in San Antonio TX and will be an on-site position. Responsibilities include gathering information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigating the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; staying abreast of developments in hardware and software. The role also involves generating quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensuring requirements comply through formal verification methods. It translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. The Network Engineer establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall network and system development. They design interfaces and bring network and system elements together so they work as a whole. The role also includes assessing performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures, and providing customer liaison and support for business development activities to understand and shape requirements.

• Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers.
• Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
• Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
• Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment and devices.
• Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
• Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
• Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

Qualifications: Required Skills and Experience: High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience). Clearance Required: TS/SCI. Current CompTIA Security+ certification. Current CCNA. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Proven ability to coordinate with stakeholders and collaborate with other team members. Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Ability to maintain on-site Lab environment to test and develop changes prior to implementation to network environment. Possess soft skills to lead, communicate, negotiation, focus on details, prioritization, decision-making, presentation and a strong analytical and problem-solving skill.
