Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Newburgh, Indiana, near Evansville
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930-$2,030
• Employment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Unit: 32-bed neuro-cardiac medical-surgical/telemetry unit
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:4-5 on day shifts, with occasional higher ratios
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Float Requirement: First to float within the RN's skill set, including nearby campuses when needed
• Local Candidate Requirement: Applicants must reside outside the 40-mile local radius

Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license; an active compact license is required
• At least 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
• Experience in a Level II trauma environment
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Recent Epic charting experience and ability to complete a related checkoff
• Strong neuro assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and adaptability skills
• Ability to interpret telemetry and 12-lead ECGs and successfully complete required telemetry testing

Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for complex medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
• Care for patients following cardiac catheterization with interventions, including femoral access and TR band management.
• Monitor and care for patients with CVA/TIA, ICDs, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology diagnoses, and postoperative neurosurgical needs.
• Perform thorough neurological assessments, NIHSS evaluations, and dysphagia screenings.
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead ECGs while recognizing and escalating changes in patient condition.
• Initiate and titrate prescribed infusions, including insulin, cardiac, and heparin drips.
• Manage common medical-surgical equipment and treatments, including NG/PEG tubes, peripheral IVs, and chest tubes as needed.
• Float within the nurse's competency to support patient care across nearby locations when requested.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, providers, ancillary staff, students, and new team members in a supportive teaching environment.
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and contribute to a positive, team-oriented unit culture.
