NERC RC System Operator

Responsibilities Coordinate, regulate, and distribute electricity in accordance with ERCOT protocols and operating guides. Ensure reliable operation of the ERCOT electric system and compliance with ERCOT Protocols, Operating Guides, NERC reliability standards, and market rules. Process market participants’ balanced schedules for energy and ancillary services. Manage frequency control, congestion, voltage control, and ancillary services deployment. Post and record all required information for settlement, accounting, and auditing. Evaluate abnormal operating conditions or system problems and coordinate solutions with operating entities and market participants. Implement and coordinate time‑error corrections, operating condition notices, advisories, watches, and emergency operation plans. Provide on‑the‑job training, oversee work of less experienced operators, and act as mentor and advisor. Work independently on assignments and tasks; assist in developing tools, processes, and procedures that enhance system reliability and efficiency. Participate with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of job‑related experience for Level 2, 3 years for Level 3, and 5 years for Senior Level beyond degree requirements. High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent education and experience). Certifications: NERC RC certification required for all levels; ERCOT System Operator certification required for Senior Level. Experience in real‑time operations, system reliability, and market processes is essential. Strong analytical, judgment, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team. Physical Requirements Must be able to work rotating day/night 12‑hour shifts. Sedentary work. Work Location Onsite in Taylor, TX (just northeast of Austin). Salary and Level Salary will be based on overall experience and determined by ERCOT.
