Job Description INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma’s largest not-for-profit health system, offers a full-time RN Charge position in Oklahoma City. The role entails working nights 7 p.m.–7 a.m. with the Med‑Surg team, providing exceptional care to patients. The RN Charge contributes to the organization’s reputation as “The Most Trusted Partner for Health.” Integris Southwest Medical Center’s 10th Floor is a fast‑paced Medical‑Surgical unit caring for orthopedic and colorectal post‑operative patients. The unit emphasizes growth in nursing skills, critical thinking, and time management, and supports teamwork and leadership. Virtual nursing is used for admissions, discharges, and rounding, creating more time for patient care. The RN Charge is responsible for day‑to‑day management and operations of the nursing unit, including patient safety and throughput, and caregiver safety and accountability. The charge nurse supervises and directs nursing activities, coordinates assignments, collaborates with physicians and other entities, and delivers patient care through the nursing process. The charge nurse may float to other units when necessary. Responsibilities Assisting caregivers with standards of care, consulting educators, supervisors, or nurse manager when necessary. Ensuring caregiver assignments are safe and that caregivers understand the escalation process. Facilitating unit performance improvement processes as directed by leadership. Supervising and coordinating the delegation and implementation of patient care for licensed and non‑licensed personnel on shift. Serving as the primary point of contact for medical staff and rounding with them as needed. Managing patient assignments and unit workflow. Assisting with patient flow by timely accepting new admissions and ensuring patients with discharge orders to home are discharged within a reasonable time frame. Projecting staffing needs for the upcoming 12 and 24 hours and escalating issues as needed. Ensuring caregivers take lunches and entitled breaks, managing buddy systems or relief for lunch. Conducting safety huddles using huddle boards before each shift and ensuring bedside shift reports are consistent. Reminding caregivers of hourly rounding when prompted by technology. Performing patient rounds, ensuring whiteboards are up‑to‑date and high‑risk patients are equipped for success. Handling crucial conversations with caregivers who are not meeting expectations. Qualifications Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma. Associate of Science in Nursing required; BSN within two years of acceptance preferred. Current BLS certification upon acceptance of the position. Effective communication skills in English. Completion of department‑specific competencies during orientation. Emergency Department Only PALS certification required. ACLS certification required. Adult Critical Care Only Competent in all advanced competencies. ACLS certification required.
