Merchant of Arcane Goods (in training)

Position Type: Sales Associate Trainee

Compensation: Start at $15 + bonuses

Advancement: Promotion to Sales Associate Apprentice on completion of training, raises available every quarter based on experience and performance review, and a growth plan with intention to become Sales Lead.

Yottaquest is a second-generation game store located in the Evendale neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. We are a tight knit team with a love for adventure, and a passion for helping our community find their next game! 

Job Description:

As a Sales Associate at Yottaquest, you will join the team in providing courteous and excited assistance to customers. Our sales associates aren’t just cashiers, and you won’t be either. We offer a hands on, direct customer experience and as a sales associate you will spend most of your time on the floor giving knowledgeable, targeted advice and recommendations to customers. While sales experience is preferred, we will teach you new skills and knowledge about the games industry through fun and illustrative training. Our ideal candidate may have an interest in games, but has a passion for sales and customer service first.

Responsibilities:

- Provide exceptional customer service

- Serve as the first point of contact for customers

- Operate the register and assist in checking out customers and creating customer orders

- Maintain a working knowledge of current and upcoming inventory

- Answer calls and aid customers over the phone

- Support the warehouse team in stocking and facing products

- Process customers from beginning to end or make a deliberate and detailed hand off

- Coordinate and call customers for their special orders and subscriptions

- Act as a representative of Yottaquest when answering all customer questions

- Re-stock and organize shelves as needed

- Help prevent loss of merchandise

- Clean sales floor, shelves, and workstations as needed

- Other tasks as required

Requirements:

- Resume with references

- Cover letter

- At least 18 years of age

- Highschool Diploma or equivalent

- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and climb a ladder when required to stock shelves

- Ability to work on your feet for ninety percent of your shift

- Ability to work flexible hours, nights, Saturdays and Mondays 

- Ability to work alone and as part of an active team

- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask

- Passion for being part of a team and collaborating with others

- Passion for sales and engaging with customers

- Strong reading comprehension and mental math skills

- Ability to work at least 20-35 hours a week

- 1 Year experience in a customer facing position (sales, serving, reception, etc.)

Preferred:

- 2-3 Years experience in a customer facing position (sales, serving, reception, etc.)

- Expertise with Point of Sale systems

- Programming experience

- Visual design and social media experience

- Expertise in the Microsoft office suite 

- Relevant college degree

About Us

One of Cincinnati’s favorite game stores, Yottaquest is now open in Evendale. The first store was originally open in Mt. Healthy from 2004 to 2015, and was voted America’s Favorite Game Store in 2009. Now, brothers Jonathan and Matthew Fay have reopened the store in a new location, with more games and bigger plans for the future.

2006 June: Yottaquest hosts the first annual Free RPG Day.

2004 June: Yottaquest opens its brick and mortar at 7607 Hamilton Avenue in Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

2004 January: Founder, Matthew M. Fay created Yottaquest and ran the business out of the basement of his house. The name Yottaquest came from his son Jonathan and is based on the metric prefix Yotta (1024 ) and Quest for adventure.
