Job Overview A Consultant, Technology Engineer will join Nationwide’s Desktop Engineering team within PC Services Physical DWTR. The role serves as the technical authority for endpoint build provisioning (Autopilot/OSD), secure configuration, complex policy management, and modern device management across the enterprise. Responsibilities include ensuring the stability, security, and continuous improvement of the Windows endpoint platform, operating endpoint engineering services, providing production support, and collaborating with infrastructure, security, and support teams. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Technology Architecture professionals to develop technology product roadmaps. Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to protect data and technology solutions from threats and vulnerabilities. Design and implement standard builds/templates for all technology platforms. Drive product improvements through optimization, enhancements, and the implementation of new features and functions. Work continuously with other Technology Engineering teams and Technology Architecture to ensure product success. Conduct proof‑of‑concept labs for enhancements, new solutions, and competitive bake‑offs. Design standard and custom technology solutions for business partner projects, including pre‑production testing, performance tuning, handoffs, and certification. Conduct proactive and reactive monitoring to detect, predict, and resolve abnormal conditions in the environment. Collaborate with vendors to drive design innovation in product enhancements and improvements. Execute production engineering processes: incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management, and knowledge management. Provide complex production support for all technology platforms. Provide oversight for technical labs and development environments. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships Reports to: AVP, Director, or Manager – Technology Engineering Manager/Technology Product Manager. Technical Skills & Experience Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field (preferred). Licenses/Certifications: Technology certifications or designations (e.g., AWS, Azure, scripting and development languages, delivery methods, security) are encouraged but not required. Experience: Six or more years of experience with complex integrated solutions, including design, development, modification, automation, and training of less experienced staff. Technical Domains: Experience with IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, package solutions, and end‑point management tools such as Microsoft Intune, PowerShell scripting, and endpoint compliance processes. Leadership: Influencing, negotiating, and priority‑setting skills. Industry Knowledge: Insurance/financial services experience is a plus. Job Conditions Exempt (Not Eligible for overtime).
