About Houston‑Galveston Area Council The Houston‑Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We work to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive. What will I be doing? Plan, coordinate, and execute internal and external events, including workgroup meetings, workshops, conferences, employee events, training sessions, and other agency activities. Manage event calendars, schedules, timelines, and logistics to ensure successful event planning and execution. Prepare meeting agendas, notices, correspondence, presentation materials, and meeting minutes as needed. Develop event programs and agendas; coordinate speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, and other event participants. Collaborate with Communications staff on event promotion, outreach efforts, marketing materials, and stakeholder engagement activities. Coordinate venue arrangements, catering, audiovisual services, and other event‑related vendors and resources. Manage attendee registration, participant communications, and customer service support before, during, and after events. Oversee on‑site and virtual event operations, including registration, technical support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. Track event budgets, coordinate vendor payments, and assist with contract administration and post‑event reporting. Serve as a liaison between H‑GAC, external stakeholders, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and attendees, while providing administrative support and special project assistance as needed. Do you have… Degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study. Less than a year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools, or in job‑related duties.
