Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Float Duration: Permanent Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Must hold a valid nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management. Experience in the care of ventilated patients. Experience with continuous IV sedation. Experience in CVA/Acute Stroke management. Experience with external ventricular drain (EVD). Experience in monitoring ICP. Knowledge of infection prevention practices. Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs). Experience with management of dysrhythmias. Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE. Experience with IV insulin protocols. Skills in starting and maintaining IVs. Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Experience in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure. Description: The position involves working in a critical care float capacity across various units. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neuro and cardiac care. Patient ratios will typically be 1:1 to 1:2. Weekend work is required. The role involves potential floating within the hospital. Experience in handling post-surgical cardiac patients is essential. Candidates should be able to assess for neuro changes, especially in stroke patients. The traveler may be required to float to an acute care unit if no ICU needs are present. A brief orientation to the acute care units within the cluster will be provided. The scheduling is variable, with potential shifts on nights or days based on hospital needs. Travelers must be flexible and prepare for possible changes in their shift assignments. The position necessitates readiness for high patient acuity and teamwork within an interdisciplinary environment. Competency in charting with EPIC is required. References are suggested but not mandatory. Previous experience in critical care settings is preferred. Candidates should be adept in various critical care procedures and interventions.
