Location: The University is located in historic Kingsville, a friendly, safe city of 25,000 that is the home of the legendary King Ranch. Corpus Christi and its beaches are just 40 miles to the northeast, and the border with Mexico is 120 miles to the south at Brownsville or 119 miles to the west at Laredo. The Admissions Counselor II, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students. Serves as a mentor, coordinates travel schedules and assignments, and develops recruiting plans. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students. Develops an effective plan for recruiting in the assigned area(s) and schools. Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the applications process. Tracks and follows up with targeted students and parents. Advises prospective students about admission statuses, policies, and office programs. Develops working relationships with TAMUS members, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Disseminates admissions information. Conducts on and off campus public speaking and maintains related records. Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, and appeals of admissions denials. Completed reports on programs/projects. Proposes, organizes, plans and coordinate events including accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records. Coordinates major office programs. Serves on office committees. Required Qualifications Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience – One year of related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Organizational and interpersonal skills.
