Clinical Nurse Resident: Acute Cancer Care (New Grad Friendly)

Clinical Nurse Resident – MD Anderson Cancer Center The Clinical Nurse Resident manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have graduated with their BSN in the past 12 months, passed NCLEX, and completed a clinical rotation or a PSNE program at MD Anderson. Candidates must work the 11:00 am – 11:00 pm shift, Monday – Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Acute Care Cancer Center The ACCC is a place where patients choose to come when the severity of their disease requires emergency care. The ACCC partners and works closely with the multidisciplinary care centers in the evaluation and treatment of patients who entrust them with their care. Responsibilities Manage patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Collaborate with physicians, other services, patients and families to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improve practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participate in data collection for current studies. Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Document care according to established standards. Access, input and retrieve information from computer systems; assure continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Act as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Train, coach and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources. Education & Qualifications Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Education Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Experience Required: None. Licenses/Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Licenses/Certifications Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as required by patient care area.
