Upper School Spanish Teacher

Job Description The Upper School Spanish teacher will be responsible for providing a student-centered, supportive approach in Spanish instruction for students in grades 7-12. Primary Responsibilities Provides direct instruction to students in Spanish. Core classes include Spanish 1-4 and Introduction to Spanish for 8th grade students. Plans and executes daily lessons for Spanish language students in grades 8-12. Develops an ongoing working knowledge of each individual student’s educational and emotional needs. Effectively collaborates with learning specialists to integrate recommended teaching strategies into content area classes. Communicates with parents to address learning concerns of students. Provides individual student assessment as needed. Shows evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students. Maintains complete and accurate records that are reflective of a student’s performance and growth in knowledge. Develops and maintains genuine, positive and consistent communication with parents. Contributes to the campus community through participation in extracurricular and club positions. Practices professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement. Participates in curriculum writing and other developmental programs and activities. Remains current in knowledge of the latest language teaching trends. Other duties as assigned. Professional Qualifications A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required for consideration. 7-12 Spanish teaching experience. Special Education Teaching Certification and/or Reading Specialist Certification. Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience. The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
