Lead Project Manager

What You\'ll Be Doing Job Scope: Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction over a team of engineers and designers engaged in the total delivery of services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in project management and involves the utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects. This work will be performed under minimal supervision. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Manage the execution of capital investments through their entire life cycles in areas assigned, including: scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, startup, and project closure documentation Ensure the safe execution of all projects managed or in assigned areas, while working with appropriate HSE personnel ensuring all government agency requirements are satisfied Integrate plant personnel into the capital project management process to ensure results that meet the needs of the project stakeholders Work closely with the business development analysts and site controllers to provide project evaluation and economic analysis on the capital investments for such managed projects. Manage the overall effort leading to an approved Appropriation Request (AR) Provide support for the Business Strategic Planning, Annual Operating Plan and Six Sigma Initiatives to develop appropriate capital plans/budgets Monitor and control projects to meet the stated AR objectives and commitments Demonstrate working knowledge of Project Controls (Estimating, Scheduling, Cost Control, and Earned Value Management) Maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and management of capital expenditures on a continuous basis Interface with key site and company personnel to make maximum use of available resources. Such functions will include, but are not limited to, site engineering resources, purchasing, operations, systems, and business engineering, as well as equipment vendors, and contracting firms Participate in Site Leadership Team meetings as the representative for Capital Project Engineering as needed Ensure necessary site eMOC, MST items and PSSR requirements are processed on projects assigned and as required Oversee appropriate maintenance and records of all drawings, specifications, programs, and other documentation for such managed projects, manage proper turnover to plant resources during closure Advocate for strong safety awareness program with consistent implementation of policies and procedures and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings Mentor less experienced Project Managers and Engineers Oversee project teams of Solstice or Contract employees Deliver projects on time, in accordance with the scopes of the projects and within targeted costs Use SAP, EcoSys, and project management tools to cost-estimate, plan and execute projects Use and obtain approvals for Change Orders to reflect changes to the project plans Identify all internal/external resources for successful project execution, and ensure the necessary resources are assigned to the project appropriately by their respective managers Coordinate all project activities between internal process design team, design houses, and contractors Ensure customer satisfaction requirements and final process design package standards are met Regularly report project progress to managers and project stakeholders. Identify any problems with cost over-runs or schedule delays Maintain effective communication among internal process design team and contractors during the term of the projects Prepare bid packages and requests for quotes for materials, equipment, and services Prepare SOW packages for design activities/engineering, construction, equipment bidding, startup activities etc. Achieve World Class safety performance on all assigned capital project Timely and effectively communicate within all levels of the organization Demonstrate the ability to form and lead teams in the resolution of problems and the application of sustained solutions Demonstrate excellent people and project management skills Customer Focus - Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Compensation Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Illinois. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove’s total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location. Minimum Salary: $100,000 annually Maximum Salary: $150,000 annually Ideal Background Education Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred. Certification Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred. Experience This position requires 4+ years of relevant experience of increasingly related responsibilities in capital project management and execution processes Manufacturing experience in chemical plants preferred Strong working knowledge of plant operations, maintenance and processes preferred Experience in the management of financial budgets, projects, troubleshooting, team building, and overall leadership Experience working with contract engineering firms Six Sigma Greenbelt (or Blackbelt) certification or equivalent experience implementing productivity / continuous improvement projects Prior experience with SAP is preferred Formal training and certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices. Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools. Demonstrated proficiency in complex project management. Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments. A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes. Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations. Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations. Ability to handle stress with poise. Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences. Ability to delegate authority appropriately. Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability. Ability to set priorities. Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation.
