Senior Tax Accountant Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 annually Please Note: Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and overall alignment with the position requirements. Location: Des Moines, Iowa (Onsite) Work Arrangement: Full-time, in-office position. This role is not eligible for remote work. About the Opportunity A growing professional services organization is seeking an experienced tax professional to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse mix of tax engagements while contributing to a collaborative, client-focused environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance across a variety of tax-related projects. Position Overview The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and supporting the preparation of various tax filings, conducting technical research, and assisting with complex tax matters. This position partners closely with internal team members and clients to deliver high-quality service and support ongoing process improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Review individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance Conduct tax research and assist with resolving complex tax matters Provide guidance and support to team members on technical tax issues and review comments Support tax planning initiatives, audits, and special projects Identify opportunities to improve processes, consistency, and overall efficiency Assist with the preparation of tax returns during peak periods as needed Communicate with clients to obtain required information and clarify project requirements Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support successful engagement execution Perform additional analysis and project-based work as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA preferred but not required 5+ years of progressive tax experience Prior experience reviewing tax returns preferred Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively Strong verbal and written communication skills Technical Skills Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency Experience with tax preparation and accounting software preferred Familiarity with financial reporting systems and related technology tools Core Competencies Analytical thinking and problem-solving Attention to detail and accuracy Organization and time management Professional judgment and discretion Client service orientation Effective communication and collaboration Results-driven mindset Why Consider This Opportunity Opportunity to work on a broad range of tax engagements Exposure to complex tax matters and special projects Collaborative and team-oriented work environment Potential for continued professional growth and development Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as otherbusiness and organizational needs.
