Our Design Engineers work closely with the CEO and various cross functional leaders to create a design led roadmap to build products and experiences that bring our community together in new and special ways.We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join the Design team at Snap Inc! What you’ll do:Conceive, prototype, and iterate new productsQuickly bring new ideas to life through functional prototypesBuild creative tooling and internal systems that change and improve how teams across Snap workOccasionally prototype on other platforms, including web, AR, and AIHelp drive the design process with engineering teams to ship these new products to usersInvent new products by leveraging your technical background and passion for designDeliver outsized impact on products used by hundreds of millions of people every dayLearn new skills and collaborate within a multi-functional design studioWork with product designers and user researchers to test new ideas and iterate on feedbackPresent and pitch your ideas and work directly to the CEO and company leadershipBe a lead in cross-functional teams with product managers and engineering to polish and refine the end products we shipKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge and understanding of iOS software engineering principlesAbility to know when it’s fine to abandon first principles for a quick proof-of-conceptAbility to rapidly prototype fully functional mobile experiencesAbility to think at a high level about product strategyCreative problem solving and the ability to iterate on solutions for challenging problemsAdaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of design and engineering trendsMinimum Qualifications: BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 5+ year of post-grad software development experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field + 2+ years of post-grad software development experienceExperience with iOS application development (Objective-C and/or Swift)3+ years of experience driving product strategy and/or design decisionsPreferred Qualifications:Proficiency with design and rapid prototyping software (e.g. AI, Figma, Sketch, Framer, Origami, Principle)Bringing something new to the table: whether that’s a new perspective on our product, a unique understanding of a particular field, or expertise in something like hardware, AI, 3D graphics, HCI, etc.A portfolio showcasing your work and strong mobile design skillsIf you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.Default Together Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
