Job Details Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Setting: Inpatient Med/Surg Resource Team Location: Lynchburg, VA 24501 Assignment Length: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour day shifts Hours per Week: 36 Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890 Start Date: 09/21/2026 On-Site: Yes Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Contract RN Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6 Orientation: Orientation begins on designated Monday start dates Holiday Requirement: Must work at least one major holiday during the assignment Job Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience Prior travel nursing experience required BLS certification required Experience with Cerner preferred Ability to explain employment gaps over 90 days Skills checklist and nursing license verification required for submission Willingness to float to a sister campus as needed Flexibility to support charge responsibilities if assigned, with training provided Ability to work in a teaching hospital environment and collaborate with students and new hires Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients Monitor and manage patients with conditions such as GI bleeds, COPD, CHF, diabetes complications, ESRD, dementia, TIA/stroke, A-fib, hypertension, sepsis, and vascular issues Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, efficient patient care Administer treatments, medications, and nursing interventions according to patient needs and care plans Document care accurately and maintain strong clinical communication Support unit workflow and contribute to a positive, team-centered culture Assist with floating when needed and adapt to changing patient care demands Participate in a learning-focused environment that values collaboration with students and new team members Apply now for this exciting Virginia travel nursing job and join a supportive Med/Surg team in Lynchburg today!
