Job Description:

In addition to the general staff RN job description, the WCU staff RN will be responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life, supervising and coordinating care with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately charges for patients and unit supplies.
• Administers and controls narcotics and medications.
• Administers IV fluids according to the PCS Policy and Procedure.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team including patients, family, and physicians.
• Compassionately provides care to patients acknowledging physiological, psychological, and developmental needs.
• Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of office and patient care equipment.
• Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner.
• Develops an individual plan of care specific to each patient's age, growth, and developmental status.
• Documents patient assessment, plan, interventions, and patient's response in the clinical record appropriately.
• Evaluates outcomes for patient care.
• Implements the plan of care.
• Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration.
• Maintains the unit and patient care area in a clean, neat, and safe environment.
• Provides a concise and accurate report at the end of a shift or when transferring a patient.
• Provides and documents appropriate patient and family education.
• Provides effective leadership by directing and/or delegating tasks to other members of the health care team.
• Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
