Who we want: The ASPIRE Program (Achieving Success through Parental Involvement Reading and Education) of Communities in Schools of Central Texas is seeking an Early Childhood Education Instructor responsible for managing an early childhood education classroom, curriculum development, lesson planning, administering developmental assessments (training provided), and providing age-appropriate infant, toddler, or pre-school education in a safe and nurturing environment. Most importantly, our teachers have fun! All materials and lesson planning time will be provided. This position is ideal for daycare professionals, preschool teachers and child development students who desire a school-type schedule (evenings and weekends off) with work-life balance, up to 9 weeks paid time off per year including holidays, fully paid medical and dental insurance, and the opportunity to support children and families in our Austin community. What we offer: The starting salary range for this position is $2,946.67 Generous paid time off includes 6+ weeks of holiday and 2 weeks of vacation time Three (3) days of paid Personal Days Twelve (12) days of paid sick leave Six weeks of paid Parental Leave CIS pays for 100% of the employee premium for the base medical insurance plan and we provide subsidy to support coverage for spouse/domestic partner and children dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending account options Professional development 403(b) retirement plan with an employer match Employee Assistance Program (EAP) We offer an inclusive environment where staff are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work every day What you'll bring: High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience working with young children and their families Demonstrated ability to work and maintain high standards of professional ethics with persons of different racial, ethnic, economic and social backgrounds Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee, with or without reasonable accommodation, must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, speak, hear, see, read, reach with arms and hands, and lift, carry, or move children and materials weighing at least 25 pounds Must have reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and one year of experience working with young children and their families OR CDA and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience CPR/First Aid Certification Proficiency in any of the listed languages: Spanish, Dari, Pashto, Arabic Experience working with families with a home language other than English Proficient with Microsoft Office suite What you'll do: Utilize knowledge of infant brain development as well as best practices for infant care to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating infant classroom; Teach early childhood education classes Plan and conduct monthly effective lesson plans Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, child-directed play, learning centers, and rest to support their growth and learning Observe children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and report these signs immediately to the Program Director Ensure the safety of children through supervision. Maintain accurate and complete records, including but not limited to attendance, behavior, assessment data, developmental observations, progress reports, parent communication, and connection with resources Ensure daily communication happens with families exhibiting cultural awareness Hold parent-teacher conferences with families Maintain a high level of confidentiality on private and personal matters that are unique to children and their families Follow and comply with the program standards, best practices, and safety regulations with the family's well-being at the center Must complete Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Infant Brain Development training upon hire Collaborate with the ASPIRE staff in a team approach to a two-generation service delivery Promote and maintain agency culture, standards, and systems Perform other activities and duties as assigned by the supervisor May oversee volunteers or teaching assistants. Reporting Structure: This position is supervised by Family Ed. Coordinator unless otherwise designated by the ASPIRE Program Director or Regional Director. This position may supervise AmeriCorps members, interns, and/or volunteers as necessary. Work Location: This position is a full-time, 32-hour position based on-site at the ASPIRE Program located in Austin, Texas.
