Job Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager and Operations Manager, the Lift Maintenance Supervisor is

responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficient operation of all lifts at Belleayre

Mountain. This position oversees the maintenance, inspection, and repair of aerial lifts and

conveyors in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, and industry standards. The Lift

Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for supervising, scheduling, and supporting the Lift

Maintenance staff while promoting a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and operational

excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Supervise Lift Mechanics in preventative maintenance programs and special projects.

 Prepare chairlifts daily for safe and efficient operational use.

 Complete all required departmental maintenance logs, inspection forms, and record keeping

documentation.

 Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, organized, and proper working conditions.

 Shovel lifts and walkways and de-ice towers as necessary to ensure safe operations.

 Safely operate various over-the-snow and wheeled vehicles.

 Attend all required on-site and off-site lift maintenance training as assigned by management.

 Inspect and monitor fluid levels, belts, tires, terminals, and other lift components.

 Operate all ski lifts safely and efficiently.

 Rebuild and replace sheaves as required.

 Perform fixed grip maintenance and carrier inspections.

 Install and maintain sheave wheels.

 Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical lift system issues.

 Maintain extensive knowledge of terminals, stations, and tension systems.

 Check and adjust alignment in motor gearboxes.

 Troubleshoot, repair, and oversee replacement of brake systems and related components.

 Maintain a comprehensive understanding of lift splicing procedures, including splice types,

requirements, tolerances, inspections, end connections, tensioning forces, rigging plans,

hydraulic rigging, track cable relocation, quality assurance, and documentation.

 Measure, adjust, and align detachable lift mechanisms.

 Perform lift line inspections and adjust tower rope alignment as needed.

 Properly adjust guide sheave heights.

 Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) on detachable grips and carriers.

 Lead and manage Lift Mechanics, including scheduling, training, supervision, hiring, and

performance management.

 Participate in lift electrical emergency procedures and time-sensitive repairs.

 Monitor inventory levels and order supplies in accordance with New York State purchasing

standards.

 Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and

maximize reliability.

 Coordinate with manufacturers and outside service providers for specialized maintenance and

repairs.

 Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to lift maintenance and

operation.

 Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and regulatory

compliance documentation.

 Stay current on industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in lift maintenance.

 Conduct regular inspections and audits of lift systems to proactively identify and resolve

issues.

 Create Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for departmental tasks and projects.

 Complete employee incident reports and Root Cause Analyses (RCA) in a timely manner.

 Prepare annual departmental budgets and assist in planning off-season capital improvement

projects.

 Conduct daily safety meetings with department staff.

 Maintain a full understanding of safety procedures, including use of work carriers and

lockout/tagout protocols.

 Report potential mechanical lift issues promptly to management.

 Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with Lift Operations staff and other

departments.

 Oversee maintenance and repair of all surface and aerial lifts, including visual chair

inspections and regular inspection of all lift system components.

 Conduct line checks to inspect sheaves, bearings, liners, and related components for wear or

damage.

 Conduct drive station inspections, including machinery, fluid levels, brake systems, and hoses.

 Conduct return station inspections, including carriage systems, guide sheaves, counterweight

systems, bull-wheels, and liners.

 Diagnose mechanical problems, plan repairs, complete corrective actions, and document all

work performed.

 Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair activities.

 Maintain accountability for departmental tools, equipment, and shop areas.

 Work with DOL to set up regular inspections for lifts.

 Execute off-season preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure lifts pass

annual New York State Department of Labor inspections.

 Support other operational departments as needed.

 Follow and enforce all ORDA safety procedures and correct identified hazards.

 Ensure departmental staff are properly trained and capable of safely performing assigned

duties.

 Document employee performance and address performance deficiencies as necessary.

 Represent the Lift Maintenance Department at operational and planning meetings to support

communication and collaboration across departments.

 Other Job Duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Skills and Qualifications:

 Must be a journey-level mechanic with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience

preferred.

 Strong knowledge and understanding of lift mechanical and electrical systems.

 Experience working on lift electrical systems and the ability to read and interpret electrical

and mechanical blueprints.

 Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities.

 Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

 Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

 Ability to work at heights of up to 100+ feet and perform duties in elevated work

environments.

 Ability to work outdoors in extreme and changing weather conditions.

 Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and

emergency call-ins as operational needs require.

 Must be able to shift schedules to accommodate groups on different dates, and for summer and

fall operations.

 Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize assigned tasks.

 Must be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications preferred.

 Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and team management skills.

 Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all ORDA safety policies and procedures.

Wage/Salary:

This position is identified as a Grade 19 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with an entry rate of

$31.83 per hour. The Olympic Authority offers an excellent benefits package that includes paid

leave (sick, vacation, and personal time), paid holidays, health, dental, and vision insurance,

participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems, and participation in NYS Deferred

Compensation, as defined under the CSEA contract.
