Position Description:

CGI is seeking a Generative AI Data Engineer to support the development of scalable data pipelines cloud-based data solutions and enterprise Generative AI applications. This is an onsite position at either the RTC or MTC location.

This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette LA Knoxville TN Birmingham AL Columbia SC

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set level experience relevant training and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62900.00 $86500.00.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The role will focus on building ETL/ELT processes using Python SQL and AWS data services including AWS Lambda Amazon Redshift Apache Iceberg and Amazon Glacier. The engineer will prepare structured and unstructured data for analytics reporting machine learning and Generative AI use cases.

Responsibilities will also include integrating LLMs through APIs and managed platforms such as Amazon Bedrock developing prompt engineering solutions and supporting Retrieval Augmented Generation applications. The successful candidate will work with embeddings vector databases semantic search and AI quality evaluation techniques such as groundedness relevance accuracy and hallucination detection.

This position will collaborate with business stakeholders data analysts software developers and AI/ML teams to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions. The engineer will also support data validation testing documentation security privacy governance and responsible AI practices.

. 35 years of experience in data engineering software development data analytics or a related technical field
. Strong hands-on experience with Python and advanced SQL
. Experience developing and optimizing ETL/ELT data pipelines
. Knowledge of relational databases data modeling stored procedures and query performance optimization
. Hands on experience with AWS data and analytics services particularly AWS Lambda Amazon Redshift Apache Iceberg and Amazon Glacier
. Working knowledge of Generative AI LLMs and prompt engineering
. Experience integrating LLMs through APIs or platforms such as Amazon Bedrock Azure OpenAI or OpenAI APIs
. Understanding of RAG embeddings vector databases and semantic search
. Experience with data mapping data quality validation automated testing and data integrity controls
. Knowledge of GenAI evaluation methods including relevance groundedness accuracy and hallucination detection
. Understanding of AI security data privacy governance and responsible AI principles
. Experience using JIRA and maintaining technical documentation


Educational Requirements:
Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems Data Engineering or a related field.
