Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform essential maintenance tasks, including air brake maintenance, axle wheel end assembly installations, and troubleshooting electrical wiring systems. The role requires a solid understanding of spring and air ride suspensions, proper alignment procedures, and minor body repairs. Additionally, the candidate must be adept at welding steel components and preparing trucks and trailers for DOT inspections.
Responsibilities

• Perform basic air brake maintenance including complete brake jobs, S-cam bushing replacements, brake chamber replacements, and air valve replacements.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of spring and air ride suspensions, proper alignment procedures, and replacement of torque arms, equalizers, and springs.
• Install axle wheel end assemblies properly, including hub and drum assemblies, bearings, seals, and races.
• Understand and implement proper torque procedures for axle nut installation.
• Troubleshoot and repair all aspects of electrical wiring systems, including lights, 7-way receptacles, interior lighting, and switches.
• Perform minor body repairs and maintenance, including replacement of body side panels, posts, swing and roll-door panels, roof, and floor sections.
• Conduct minor undercarriage maintenance and repairs, such as replacing crossmembers, ICC bumpers, spring hangers, dolly legs, and bracing.
• Weld steel components from various positions.
• Prepare trucks and trailers for DOT inspections.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in trailer repair and maintenance.
• Experience with brake systems and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Welding skills.
• Ability to work with electrical wiring, brakes, and air lines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any gas or diesel engine work experience is a plus, but not required.
• Having own tools is a plus, but not required. Tool allowance available.

Work Environment
Work alongside a small team in a shop environment, currently consisting of you and one other mechanic, with plans to expand by adding 1-2 more team members. The general working hours are 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility to accommodate a consistent schedule.
Pay is DOE, but range of $28-35/hr+ to start.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $72800.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
