Safety Supervisor

Description
- Monitor Fixed Route, compliance with safety policies and best practices as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws pertaining to field operations.
- Follows and adheres to RATP Dev USA Drive2Zero program.
- Recommend and develop changes to policies, procedures, and programs that focus on improving the safety and efficiency of Fixed Route field operations.
- Respond to, assist in the investigation of code 10 accidents, and conduct hazard assessments associated with all vehicular accident activity.
- Investigate accident trends and conduct route safety reviews and recommend remedial solutions.
- Support efforts to resolve customer concerns about Fixed Route field operations and related service issues.
- Serve on the Accident Review Board for Fixed Route Services and facilitate the Fixed Route Operator safety committees.
- Conduct shadow rides and on-board rides for performance evaluation of bus operators.
- Assist the Safety/Training Manager in the development of safety-related training information to be presented at appropriate meetings.
- Enter conformation into company software when applicable i.e (Fleet response, Safe Tracker, Triage now)
- Notify appropriate departments of worker's compensation injuries and follow through with worker's compensation claims.
- Plan and organize daily work routine, estimate expected time of completion of elements of work and establish personal schedule accordingly. Implement work activities in accordance with priorities and estimated schedule.
- Communicate ideas and proposals effectively so others will understand to include preparation of reports, agendas, and policies.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization and the general public.
- Comprehensive knowledge of RATP Dev USA/ART policies and current labor agreement.
- Ability to problem-solve under stressful conditions and tight timelines. Ability to coordinate Fixed Route Service under emergency conditions on a 24-hour basis. RATP Dev USA July 2020
- Ability to effectively interact with representatives of the Amalgamated Transit Union and resolve labor issues.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population.
- Ability to effectively manage and resolve employee and customer conflicts.
- Ability to work in a "Team" focused environment and assist other Team Members achieve their objectives.
- Ability to research and analyze data, interpret policies and procedures, track trends and make recommendations based on interpretation.
- Manages, organizes, and maintains all operator safety files (DOT, Drug and Alcohol, Training/Retraining, etc.).
- Notifies and updates Operations, Safety, and HR regarding the status of all newly hired operators, their entrance into revenue service and/or termination of employment.
- Notifies and updates Operations and HR regarding an operator's return to revenue service status following accidents/incidents.
- Organizes, communicates, facilitates, and actively participates in monthly safety meetings, blitzes, and campaigns while monitoring operator and staff attendance.
- Schedules, facilitates, and documents annual retraining for all operators (ADA, Wheelchair Lifts, etc.) in accordance with FTA, DOT, and OSHA guidelines.
- Facilitates supervisor accident and incident training to ensure appropriate procedures are followed and conducts refresher training, as necessary.
- Monitors, documents, and immediately addresses areas of opportunity related to contractual safety requirements and compliance (Operator Safety, Vehicle Safety, Field Safety, Facility Safety, etc.).
- Recommends, develops, and facilitates additional training, as necessary.
- Reviews, documents, and files daily operator coaching of Drive Cam incidents
- Assists in, documents, and files appropriate paperwork as a follow-up to operator retraining after accident/incidents occur.
- Tracks, notifies, and conducts the appropriate follow-up with all operators to ensure they are aware of upcoming credential expiration dates.
- Facilitates new hire operator classroom training.
referred Education, Residency, and Experience:- High School diploma or GED required.
- Seven (7) years progressively responsible operational experience with a public transit agency.
- Two (2) years supervision of transit operational staff in a bargaining unit environment.
- Must possess a current valid Driver's License, Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.
- 12 months proficient clerical administrative experience with Micro office suite.
- 3+ years operations experience in a safety sensitive environment (experience dealing with federal regulations such as OSHA, FTA, DOT, etc. a plus).
