RN Neuromusculoskeletal Med Surg Float

Job Summary:

The Level II Registered Nurse (RN) in Neuromusculoskeletal Medical Surgical (NMSK Med Surg) float role is responsible for delivering competent, evidence-based nursing care in a medical-surgical setting. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this RN provides patient care, assumes expanded duties such as charge nurse and preceptor roles, and participates in committee activities. The role requires strong clinical skills, telemetry experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively within the interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two years' experience in medical-surgical nursing.
• Telemetry nursing experience.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced inpatient environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in neuromusculoskeletal or related specialty areas.
• Previous charge nurse or preceptor experience.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, such as EPIC.

Special Considerations:

• Must be available to work blocked weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback shifts as needed.
• Position includes float responsibilities across inpatient units with rotating day/evening/night (D/E/N) shifts.
• Compliance with hospital policies including TB skin test requirements.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of 36 or 48 hours per week based on unit needs.
• Shifts include blocked weekends and may require flexibility for holidays and on-call coverage.
• Shift assignments include rotating day, evening, and night shifts on inpatient units.
