About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience Skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT Description: This position involves caring for immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients. The unit specializes in advanced cardiac procedures and the management of devices. Responsibilities include providing care for patients on ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs. Nurses will perform central line insertions, Swan Ganz insertions, and intubations. The unit features a free-floating charge nurse to provide assistance. Student Nurse Externs support nurses by performing tech duties during variable shifts. The department maintains a patient ratio of 1:2, with 1:1 for certain device patients. There is an intensivist assigned to the unit 24/7. The team consists of a strong, driven group of nurses with excellent teamwork. The unit operates with Phillips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps. The documentation system utilized is Meditech. Scheduling requirements include two weekends per month and holiday coverage. The unit has received the Unit of Distinction Award and the Daisy Award. This is an opportunity to work alongside five full-time surgeons performing a high volume of surgeries. The environment is supportive, with opportunities to advance skills in critical care nursing.
