School Van Operator

Schedule: Hourly. Hours may vary based on program needs.

Reports To: Assistant/Supervisor of Transportation

Salary: $17.50/hr

Qualifications: Required

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver's License

No more than three (3) moving violations within three (3) years

Ability to obtain DOT Physical

Position Summary: The School Van Operator is responsible for the safe transportation of Saint Cloud School District 742 students while maintaining professionalism, safety, and positive student interactions during transportation services.

Essential Duties:

• Demonstrate ability to safely operate a school van owned and operated by District 742
• Demonstrate competency in each of the following areas as required by state law:
• Safely operate the type of school van assigned
• Understand student behavior, including issues relating to students with disabilities
• Encourage orderly student conduct and appropriately handle misconduct incidents
• Understand laws, rules of the road, and local school transportation safety policies
• Safely load and unload students
• Attend meetings with transportation staff, school administrators, and the public when necessary
• Complete student incident reports when applicable
• Maintain fuel and mileage log sheets, pre-trip forms, and other required documentation
• Verify route sheets for accuracy and provide recommendations to appropriate supervisors
• Clean the inside and outside of the van as needed
• Attend all required District safety and informational meetings
• Maintain current First Aid certification provided by the District
• Display the level of professionalism expected by District 742
• Other duties as assigned
