Aurora Mind Health Advocates is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our team. This full-time remote position requires a skilled professional who is passionate about providing trauma-informed care and making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals coping with trauma. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with trauma survivors, helping them regain their mental health and resilience.

Aurora Mind Health Advocates is a community health clinic located in Glendale, Arizona, specializing in trauma recovery. Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment for our patients, primarily focusing on those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. We pride ourselves on our holistic approach to mental health therapy, ensuring every patient's individual story and journey is acknowledged and respected.

Work Environment

This role is entirely remote, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a structured work schedule. Our operational hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required based on patient needs. This arrangement enables our counselors to balance their professional commitments with personal life, creating a positive work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments that evaluate patients’ trauma histories.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs and facilitate their journey to recovery.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Lead individual and group therapy sessions that foster resilience and enhance coping strategies for trauma-related challenges.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other community health professionals to ensure comprehensive, integrated care for patients.
  • Provide crisis intervention during trauma-related emergencies with a focus on safety and effective support.
  • Educate patients and their families about the impacts of trauma, effective coping mechanisms, and the resources available to them.
  • Document patient interactions accurately and confidentially, adhering to the required legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and case consultations aimed at improving treatment approaches and sharing knowledge about trauma-informed care.
  • Stay current with ongoing research and developments in trauma therapy to enhance treatment efficacy.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work primarily with individuals who have experienced varying degrees of trauma and are seeking healing and support. Our patient demographic encompasses diverse backgrounds, including those dealing with PTSD, complex trauma stemming from various life experiences, and dissociative disorders. Your role will be crucial in guiding these individuals towards recovery and empowerment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Arizona.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-licensure experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed treatment practices and resilience-building techniques.
  • Effective communication skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications.
  • Capability to function well as part of a multidisciplinary team, giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations while providing outstanding care.
  • Previous involvement in case consultations and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 to 110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
