Registered Nurse (RN) - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum

A Registered Nurse is needed to join a dynamic team in a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum setting. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience, with a strong background in labor and delivery care and the ability to provide exemplary patient care in diverse settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate and quality nursing care to patients in labor, delivery, and postpartum.
• Provide antepartum care and assist with various procedures, including sterile speculum exams and triage of obstetrical patients.
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring and recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns.
• Administer IV therapy and phlebotomy, including the administration of blood products and medications.
• Assist in L&D management, including participation in high-risk deliveries and circulating for C-section procedures.
• Conduct newborn assessments, assist with circumcisions, and provide discharge teaching to parents.
• Implement pain management strategies, including the use of epidurals and general anesthesia.
• Deliver postpartum care, including breastfeeding support and patient education during recovery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing, specifically in labor and delivery and couplet care.
• First-time travelers are encouraged to apply.
• Certifications required: AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate, BCLS, FHM, and NRP.
• Preferred certifications include ACLS and AWHONN Advanced.
• Skills in triage and ability to work in high-pressure situations.

Work Setting

The unit is an LDRP with low-risk patients, although all pregnant patients requiring care will be accepted. Nurses will either care for labor patients or couplets and must be proficient in both areas. The unit consists of 15 rooms and 17 beds, staffed to ensure quality patient care.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 - 07:15.
• Weekend shifts are required; an average of 8 shifts per contract.
• 36 hours of work can be offered weekly.

Unit Orientation

The orientation process includes 24 hours of training, which consists of a general hospital orientation followed by two 12-hour shifts on the unit.

Equipment and Systems

The unit is equipped with all necessary technology and systems including Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR to ensure effective patient management and care.
