Who We Are Looking For GHD’s Contaminated Assessment & Remediation (CAR) team seeks an experienced environmental professional to support site assessment, remediation, and environmental risk management projects across Chicago, Houston, Detroit, St. Paul, and Golden. This role will work closely with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate field investigations, deliver environmental site assessments, and manage small‑to‑mid‑scale projects. You’ll apply technical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to manage environmental risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver practical, sustainable outcomes. Key Responsibilities Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources and select needed information for key theme analysis. Health, Safety, and Environment: Monitor and review HSE KPIs and patterns of behavior, taking action to improve performance and address non‑compliance. Personal Capability Building: Participate in assessment, development, training, coaching, and pursue external accreditation as relevant. Client & Customer Management: Manage important client relationships under senior guidance or lead transactions with a group of clients. Environmental Site Assessments: Conduct and review ASTM‑compliant Phase I ESAs and Limited EHS compliance assessments; coordinate and deliver ESA projects within timelines. Includes regular travel with required overnight stays. Solutions Analysis: Identify problems and devise the best technical or professional solutions. Project Management: Deliver small‑ or medium‑scale projects within an established program management plan. Insights and Reporting: Prepare and coordinate various data and analytics reports. Environmental Risk Management: Oversee environmental risk management processes to minimize detrimental impact. Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather resources, draft proposals, and fulfill all process requirements for bid solicitations, RFPs, and tenders. Community of Practice Management: Contribute to a defined area of expertise or consulting community to build capability and innovate practices among colleagues. Education Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level Experience General Experience: Substantial general work experience with comprehensive job‑related expertise, primarily 6–10 years. Managerial Experience: Supervisory and directional experience to achieve results within limited timeframes, 13 months‑to‑3 years. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field. Professional certification (EIT, PE, PG, CHMM, etc.) is a plus. Hands‑on experience conducting Phase I ESAs at industrial sites such as manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, chemical processing, or heavy commercial operations. Strong understanding of ASTM E1527‑21 Standard. Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (RCRA, CERCLA, UST, etc.). Excellent technical writing and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel with overnight stays. Benefits 401(k): Employees are eligible to participate the first day of the month following 3 months of service. Paid time off: 16 days per year with increases for additional service. Holiday pay: 9 holidays per year with pay based on regular schedule.
