Position Summary

The Personal Care Assistant will provide direct, non-medical care and supervision to a 13-year-old male with Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities, and hearing loss. The participant wears cochlear implants, is very active, and enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to music, and participating in engaging activities. This position is ideal for someone who is patient, energetic, compassionate, and willing to learn.

No prior experience with cochlear implants is required.

Two positions available with paid training.

Expected Hours:

• Monday–Friday : 8:15 AM – 5:15 PM
• Saturday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Sunday : 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Schedules may be divided between two caregivers based on availability and client needs.

Essential Job Duties

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
• Assist with toileting and changing pull-ups as needed.
• Prepare simple meals and snacks.
• Provide assistance during mealtimes while encouraging independence.
• Supervise and ensure the participant's safety at all times.
• Encourage participation in age-appropriate recreational and educational activities.
• Engage in outdoor play, walks, and other physical activities.
• Participate in activities the participant enjoys, including listening to music and watching television.
• Promote independence while providing appropriate guidance and support.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and positive environment during care.
• Accurately document daily activities and communicate with the family and agency regarding the participant's care.

• Enjoys music, sensory-friendly activities, and television
• Wears pull-ups
• Lives in a clean, family-oriented home (slightly cluttered)
• No pets in the home

Qualifications

Required

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass all required background screenings.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable.

Preferred

• Experience as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), Caregiver, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Experience working with children or individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or developmental disabilities.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with transfers as needed.
• Ability to keep up with an active child during indoor and outdoor activities.
