Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team in Yakima, Washington. This role is integral to providing exceptional patient care within an Ambulatory Care and Operating Room setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients undergoing various surgical procedures.

The Operating Room RN will primarily function as a circulator, ensuring a sterile environment, patient safety, and efficient workflow throughout the surgical process. This position requires a commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, and collaborative teamwork with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

You will play a crucial role in advocating for patients, providing comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and timely. This is an opportunity to contribute to excellent patient outcomes in a dynamic surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, considering physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
• Formulate, implement, and revise individualized plans of care based on assessment data, patient goals, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide direct patient care, including circulating duties in the Operating Room, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and patient safety protocols.
• Administer medications, monitor patient vital signs, and assess physiological responses during surgical procedures.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner, reflecting objective/subjective data, interventions, and patient responses.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient care and surgical flow.
• Provide patient and family education regarding surgical procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions.
• Participate in departmental and facility-wide quality improvement initiatives and shared leadership activities.
• Provide peer direction and support to licensed and non-licensed personnel, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Minimum one (1) year of licensed Registered Nurse experience in an Operating Room setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned pediatric cases in an Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Additional OR or perioperative licensed Registered Nurse experience.
