Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary:Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) aids Supplier Quality manager to help ensure suppliers’ processes are in line with the design intent of PowerSecure and verify supplier’s systems to ensure they are compliant with PowerSecure’s requirements. This includes on-going supply chain company verification and risk analysis.A successful supplier quality engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products continually improve to exceed established quality standards.Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):BS Degree in mechanical, electrical or equivalent engineering degreeASQ certification preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar roleStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent project management skillsPractical, hands-on experience in supply chain development, qualifying and developing suppliers.Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical assembly drawingsExperience with fabrication or electrical switchgear components preferredExperience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP or IFS preferred)Experience with Advanced Quality Planning tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA preferredExperience with auditing and evaluating new suppliers preferredExperience with evaluating and improving measurement systemsExpertise in in structured root cause analysis tools (8D, 5-Why, Red X, Ect)Job Duties and Responsibilities:Essential FunctionsSupplier Quality Engineers will work closely with purchasing and engineering teams to ensure processes are in place to minimize risk and meet product conformance. Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements. Supplier QualityExecute PowerSecure Supplier Quality Functions. Including Advanced Quality Planning and Continuous ImprovementManages supplier qualification process, including reviewing and assessing suppliers’ qualification documents, and performs on-site audits—assessing suppliers’ capabilities and capacityMonitoring and analyzing quality performance driving measurable improvement in defined KPIs.Improve new supplier introduction, qualification, technical evaluations, and approval processesEvaluates and makes recommendations on critical supplier selections, drives supplier continuous improvement processes and approves of supplier corrective actionsPerform risk analysis to define incoming inspection requirementsSupport the Implementation of quality system changes and enhancements to drive manufacturing efficiencies, meet shipment commitments, and ensure internal and external customer satisfactionDrive “Right the First Time” mentality within the supply base.Work with the engineering team to review assembly specifications related to manufacturabilityParticipate in internal quality system auditsRepresent and encourage a continuous improvement culture within the manufacturing teamTravel to supplier sites to lead audits, perform process reviews, evaluate quality control practices, and validate corrective actions. Travel will include both continental Unted States and International with a majority being within driving distance of PowerSecure.
