Sales Representative — Feed, Seed & Crop Services

Thompson Farm Supply | Donnellson, IA | Full-Time

Thompson Farm Supply is a family-owned farm supply retailer; serving Southeast Iowa and Northeast Missouri. We provide livestock feed, seed, chemicals, custom application services, waterers and feeders to the farmers and producers who make up our community.

We're looking for a motivated, customer-focused Sales Representative to grow our customer base and deepen relationships across our territory. This role blends outside sales with hands-on customer service — working directly with local farmers and producers on their feed, seed, chemical, and custom application needs.

• Build brand awareness and grow sales of Thompson's full product line — feed, seed, chemicals, and custom application services — within an assigned territory

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers across the service area

• Coordinate with the operations team on delivery scheduling, feeder rentals, and custom application timing

• Represent Thompson at local events, field days, and community gatherings to build brand presence

• Stay current on product knowledge, agronomic trends, and competitive activity within the territory

• 2 years of sales experience; agriculture or ag retail experience preferred

• Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) credential preferred, not required

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

• Strong communication skills and comfort working independently in the field

• Experience in ag retail, agronomy, or crop input sales

• Retail agronomists ready to expand into a dedicated sales role

• Recent agriculture-program graduates with relevant internship experience

• Compensation: salary [$45,000–$65,000, based on experience] plus commission

• Company vehicle: a company vehicle will be available to drive during business hours

This role covers Thompson Farm Supply's service area across Southeast Iowa and Northeast Missouri generally within a 30-mile radius of Donnellson, including [Lee, Henry, Des Moines].

• Ability to drive throughout the assigned territory

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when assisting with product delivery or demonstrations, while up on your feet most of the day

• Comfortable working outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions

• Basic computer skills
