Job Description

Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist I is responsible for supporting surgical teams in the operating room by preparing and maintaining sterile equipment, supplies, and environments. They assist during procedures by ensuring all instruments and materials are available, functioning correctly, and sterile, while helping maintain patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of surgical procedures and assist in problem-solving during operations.
• Verify and assemble instruments and supplies based on physician preference cards, ensuring readiness for surgery.
• Properly assemble, sterilize, and maintain surgical equipment and disposables for each procedure.
• Monitor and maintain the sterile field, recognizing and addressing any breaches in technique.
• Keep precise records of medications, sponges, sharps, and instruments used in each case, ensuring accurate charging.
• Prepare sterile fields promptly, ensuring all instruments are available and in optimal condition for the surgical team.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of CST experience, with recent travel work strongly preferred.
• Level II Trauma experience required.
• Proficiency in Orthopedics, Vascular, Neuro, General/Gynecology, and Urology surgeries.
• Active NBSTSA Certification and AHA BLS certification required.
• Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-stakes surgical environments.
