Explain a typical day in the role.
- The QA/QC Manager starts the day by reviewing the project's active construction activities, inspection schedules, quality metrics, and any open quality concerns from the previous day. A morning site walk is conducted with contractors, field engineers, and construction managers to verify that ongoing work complies with project specifications, approved submittals, manufacturer requirements, and quality standards.
- Throughout the day, the QA/QC Manager performs field inspections across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and telecom scopes, identifying potential quality issues before they impact schedule, commissioning, or turnover milestones. They work closely with trade partners to resolve deficiencies, review corrective actions, and ensure non-conformance items are addressed promptly.
- A significant portion of the day is dedicated to reviewing quality documentation, including inspection reports, test results, torque logs, commissioning records, turnover packages, and as-built documentation. The QA/QC Manager verifies that documentation is accurate, complete, and ready to support future turnover and operational acceptance.
- The role also involves regular coordination meetings with Construction Managers, Project Engineers, Commissioning Managers, General Contractors, and Operations teams to discuss quality risks, upcoming inspections, turnover readiness, and critical path activities.
