Position Overview and Qualifications

The Lactation Consultant plays a pivotal role as an expert advisor for the facility’s Breastfeeding Program. This position primarily aims to support the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding by offering education and assistance to our patients. Furthermore, the Lactation Consultant will collaborate with maternal nursing staff to ensure that new mothers receive consistent and accurate information. We are a supportive team seeking a remarkable individual who shares our passion for meaningful patient care.

• You will educate new mothers and families about breastfeeding in accordance with current AAP guidelines and recommendations.
• You will assist in managing patients facing complex breastfeeding challenges.
• You will provide lactation discharge teaching and resources for ongoing support.
• You will deliver education as part of the Childbirth Education Program and continue to consult with patients needing services after discharge.
• You will be responsible for developing policies and procedures related to breastfeeding.

Required Qualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Associate Degree or Registered Nurse Diploma
