Sr Analyst, Merchandising Finance

The Sr Analyst, Merchandising Finance will play a key role in financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making across the Merchandising organization. This position will partner closely with Finance and Merchandising leaders to analyze performance, identify key drivers and opportunities, and translate financial and operational data into actionable insights. The role will support a significant portfolio of merchandising income and gross margin, with exposure to senior leaders across Finance and Merchandising. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and an interest in using data and technology to improve business decisions.

This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of three onsite days per week and the rest remote.

Responsibilities:

• Support forecasting, annual planning, and period-end reporting for Merchandising Finance, including analysis of key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Serve as the lead FP&A business partner for Culinary Equipment and Supplies (CES). Own CES reporting, decks, annual planning, forecasting, and recurring financial deliverables, ensuring business leaders have clear visibility into performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Analyze financial and operational performance to identify trends, explain variances, and develop actionable insights and recommendations.

• Partner with Merchandising and Finance stakeholders to understand business performance and support key decisions.
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate business initiatives, margin opportunities, and strategic questions.
• Prepare clear, executive-ready reporting and presentations that communicate performance, key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Support cross-functional and ad hoc analyses related to merchandising strategy, pricing, vendor economics, gross margin, customer initiatives, and emerging business priorities.

• Improve and automate financial processes, reporting, and analytical tools through Excel, data visualization, AI-enabled tools, and other technologies.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Relationships:

• Internal: Merchandising leadership and associates; Corporate FP&A Accounting; Commercial Finance; and other cross-functional partners.
• External: N/A

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of relevant finance, FP&A, accounting, or analytics experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Strong Excel skills and understanding of financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, and business performance drivers.
• Ability to communicate financial concepts and analytical findings clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, ownership, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and levels of the organization.
• Deep understanding of key financial and operational drivers within a commercial environment.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related analytical field (required).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience or coursework in FP&A, commercial finance, analytics, pricing, or another business-facing finance discipline.
• Familiarity with financial modeling, large datasets, SQL, Snowflake, Sigma, Anaplan, or similar analytical tools.
• Interest or experience in using automation and AI-enabled tools to improve financial analysis and processes.
• Experience in food distribution, retail, consumer products, restaurants, or another consumer-facing operating environment.
• CFA, CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced credentials are a plus.

This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $75,000 - $120,000.
