QA/UAT Engineer Intern

We're looking for a QA/UAT Engineer Intern to help us shape and scale our automated end-to-end testing framework for the BalkanID web platform.

You'll work closely with engineering, product, and design to define UAT test coverage for our user-facing workflows. This is not a manual QA role—you'll be writing, evaluating, and refining automated tests using modern tools that enable fast, maintainable test authoring and cross-browser validation. We also believe in leveraging AI wherever possible to streamline and accelerate the testing process.

We're a lean, execution-focused team, and this internship offers an opportunity to work on real-world challenges at the intersection of usability, reliability, and product quality.

What You'll Work On

• Build, improve, and maintain automated UAT coverage for the BalkanID web app.
• Help define internal best practices for writing quick, reliable, and maintainable end-to-end tests—so engineers can author tests in under an hour as part of feature development.
• Implement tools and frameworks for test execution reliability, platform stability, cross-browser support, and CI/CD integration.
• Bring in automation using modern AI wherever possible to simplify test authoring, validation, and maintenance.
• Monitor automated test runs, triage flaky failures, and ensure stability across environments.
• Collaborate with product and design to deeply understand user journeys and reflect them in test scenarios.
• Work closely with product management and engineering to define and implement comprehensive test plans.
• Execute test plans, document issues, and file clear, detailed bug reports via Jira for engineering resolution.

What We're Looking For

• Strong interest in product quality, user experience, and software testing.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with modern testing frameworks like Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.
• Curiosity about the application of AI in automation and testing workflows.
• Experience with OpenAI operator is a nice to have.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• High attention to detail, structured thinking, and strong written communication.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to dive deep and learn fast.

Compensation and Commitment

Our internships are only full time but remote (you can work from anywhere) and require a minimum of 3 months commitment. Our internships may not pay as much cash as large companies, but they are always paid. Interns also receive equity in the company (typically not common in the industry).
