Job Summary:
Operating Room Nurse position in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in the operating room environment, supporting a level 1 trauma center with a variety of surgical procedures including robotics, neuro, trauma, and general surgeries. Candidates are required to bring their Iowa or Compact state license on the first day of orientation.

Job Details:

• Required Qualifications: 24 months of current operating room experience (hospital/medical center experience will be prioritized); circulating and operating room experience; certifications include BLS (AHA); active Iowa or compact/multistate license; experience in General, Davinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases is required; additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, Ear, Nose, Throat, and Vascular is highly preferred.
• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I or Level II experience; EPIC electronic medical record experience within the past 3 years; experience with robotic systems and complex surgical procedures.
• Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • The traveler will be required to float across multiple campuses, including Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Medical Center, Iowa Methodist.
  • Scrubs are provided.
  • Average caseload ranges from 35-50 cases per day with turnovers expected to be less than 20 minutes.
  • Special equipment includes three Davinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation, and Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma.
  • The facility has 16 OR suites operating routinely from 12-14 at a time.
  • The service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Robotics, Gynecology, Urology, General, Pediatrics, and Transplants.
  • The call schedule includes up to one overnight per week and three weekends per 13-week contract, with weekend coverage from end of shift on Friday until 6:30 am Monday.
  • Holidays requiring coverage include Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, unless the unit is closed.
  • Orientation dates are scheduled for 6/22 and 6/29.
